Bonsai Trees Decorating with bonsai trees was originally a Japanese technique. The love that the Japanese had for the exquisiteness of trees led them to keep petite trees, like the bonsai tree, on display indoors. Now that tree is used as a decoration in many places, and there are many different styles to choose from. When deciding to decorate your home with a bonsai tree, either artificial or real, you will need to know the specifications of the area that you are placing the tree. As with any type of greenery, you will need to consider the width of the pot and the height of the tree when it is fully grown. Keep in mind that having an elegant pot or container makes a big difference!A pot or container is not just a holder for your plant, but should also enhance the beauty of your displayed greenery. Drying and Preserving Flowers: The Basics Many special occasions come with flowers, and preserving those flowers is a wonderful way to have a memento of that special day. It usually doesn’t take long for flowers to begin wilting, especially if the ceremony they were used for called for them to be out of water—so don’t delay when it is time to dry them. Two techniques for preserving flowers lead to two totally different looks—but neither is difficult to do. The more basic method is to dry your flowers by hanging them upside down. You will need to dry them in a place with little moisture and light to get the maximum beauty preserved within your flowers. These flowers will be very delicate when ready, so you may want to display them in a glass box (shadowboxes also work well). Pressing flowers is another way to preserve them, though they will have a very different look from dried flowers. Since this process does not work very well with bigger or rounder flowers, consider pressing the flower’s petals rather than the whole flower; with small, delicate flowers, pressing yields very pretty results. Creating a Centerpiece One of the more common uses for silk plants, flower arrangements, and other small home decor trinkets is as a centerpiece. They are usually displayed somewhere where everyone can see them. A good centerpiece attracts the eye but also accents the beauty of its surroundings. The best centerpieces lead one’s eye to look at several different things. One pattern incorporates thin, long, sometimes wispy elements (such as cattails or taller flowers) and uses them in an x-shaped design. Arches are a completely different look that still cause you to look at the whole piece. If you would like to find out more about centerpiece designs, there are many pictures available on the internet; home decoration magazines also have great ideas. Enjoying Your Interior Decorating Process It is a very rewarding experience to turn mundane areas of your home into something wonderful to look at. Unlike any other art form, interior design allows you to dwell inside your creation. This activity allows you to combine creativity and utility. Working with interior design in a sense is like service at a restaurant in that the experience is disastrous when it is not good, and almost unnoticeable when excellent. Although those who live in your home may not notice it, the effects of the work you have accomplished include feelings of security, satisfaction, and inspiration. Many people feel that inner drive to better their surroundings, and by doing so, you are creating a fantastic place to live.
